Northampton is Next! Branch AGM – Monday October 4th : 6-9 pm20th September 2021 by Michele Auborn
The Northampton Cigarette & Card Club opened their doors last month for the first time in almost two years. Not much has changed though and they are glad to say that their meetings are staying the same as before they went away, that`s the first Monday in the month, unless its bank holiday, and they run from 6 – 9 pm. Their next meeting is a special one, it will be their Annual General Meeting, and it is on October 4th.
Then to close the year ordinary meetings will be taking place on November 1st and December 6th. Visiting dealers have been booked for each of these meetings, so why not nip along to the Weston Favell Parish Hall, Booth Lane South, Northampton, NN3 3EP.
Like all our Branches and Clubs, new members will be made very welcome.

Sussex Branch will be meeting again on Sunday October 17, at Chailey Parish Hall, Chailey Green Road, Chailey Green, Lewes BN8 4DA. Its on the A 275, next to the Five Bells public house. This will be the fourth meeting for Sussex, who were one of the first branches to return on July 25th following their 16 month enforced closure. That very rainy day saw one Sussex collector getting lost en route to the venue at South Chailey, but still around 20 people turned up – including several visitors whose own branches had not yet opened. There was brisk activity on the tables and a successful bring and buy auction. Society President, John Walton, described Sunday July 25 as “Cartophilic Freedom Day”, as Lea Valley Club was also being re-launched.
Their next meeting will be on November 28.

This is a very friendly Branch and they welcome new faces. Their 2021 dates are as follows

Thursday 16th December, which is their Christmas Event – more about that nearer the time, but lets just say this is admirably combined with a trip down to see the Oxford and Regent Street lights.

And here is a report on their August event, courtesy of John Walton :
Hants and Surrey branch joined the growing list of branches and clubs returning after 17 months away when they met on the 8th of August. The attendance in the low twenties was a little down on pre-lockdown days –but there was great enthusiasm from those who did turn out in appalling weather. Does anybody recall whether it rained on St Swithuns Day? We actively encouraged COVID compliance, including the fact that masks were worn everywhere except for when eating and drinking; and dealer tables were very busy. Eventually Keith Johnson and Roger Whichelow, looking like veteran Buzz Lightyears, presided over the bring and buy auction. It was very sad to reflect that three of our prominent members had passed away, and that Bill Blount, well known Normandy Veteran, had moved to a Nursing Home. Well, unless there is a serious deterioration in the COVID situation we are hoping to have our next all day event on Sunday October 31. Our next Postal Auction Catalogue was circulated with the next printed issue of “Card World”, bidding closes on November 5th, and the lots will be available for viewing, on, request, at that October Fair.Graham Wright, Club Treasurer
